Sunbirds in Africa
Sunbiers are similar to hamming birds in Americas, but they are totally different in classification.

This is a male golden-winged sunbird taken in the Serengeti National Park
in Tanzania. This is a large species but still has only 23 cm including
the tail.

This is a amethyst sunbird taken in Naromoru, Kenya. This place is famous
for the base for climbing Mt. Kenya and also as a good baird watiching
place.

This must be a malachite sunbird. This beautiful species lives in high
altitude of East Africa. This particular photo was taken above 3000m on
the slope of the Mt. Kilimanjaro. The plant is a giant groundsel which
belongs to the family of chrysanthemum. There are nany unique strange plants
in the alpine zones of East Africa.
